In these unique times - are you taking care of your well-being? Is your Workspace catering to your well-being too?

Let’s start with the definition of well-being…

well-being ~ noun

  • 1. the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy

When you think about your well-being, aspects like these come to mind; your stress level, healthy eating & exercise, connection to others, your interests & passions and what you value in your life. The well-being of a person is very unique and truthfully when you look around, often we can get discouraged when we think others are more happy or more fulfilled. But, the truth is that the well-being of an individual is just that, its yours not mine. You know innately what is important to you in the everyday and in your life. So, check in with yourself each day, its great to take something off your schedule that just isn’t working or to refine how you are going about a certain task.

With the current Covid-19 crisis, many more people are working from home than ever. I am sure over these couple of months, you have created the best work-space possible with what you have room for and what furniture you already had back in March. Whether that has been taking over the dinning room or using a console table as a desk or even using a foldout table (like my husband) the key is even after all these weeks, you can still make changes that just might enhance your daily experience. Did you find a wall that’s away from other common areas? or an open area, where your work surface is on the opposite side of larger piece of furniture; like a bookshelf or a couch. Are you near a window for some natural light? If not, is there small side table lamp that you can use? Have you added a personal touch to your work space - a plant, a joyful photo, fun containers/mugs for a few essential office supplies? (not too much, but things you have around that make your table/space feel personal) If you need more surface space think about using a container (on its side) or shelf riser that you can add for 2-level storage.

In the end, keep lots of open space on your surface - it has a calming effect! Some ideas for you; play some peaceful/creative music in the background, or mist your area with some essential oils - like orange for uplifting & peace, or try closing your eyes to rest them and to allow your mind to reset.

    • If you are working on a dinning table - store your laptop/files etc into a small vessel (basket, container, or a box) and put it in the same place everyday

    • Now, its time to reset, get outside or read a few pages of a book - take some time to re-group & let go before dinner & your evening
