It's time to hit the EDIT button! - it's a verb & requires action

Editing is a constant part of one’s life. Whether you are looking at your drawers of t-shirts & socks or a cabinet full of kitchen things or your volume of emails or your car’s trunk . . . everywhere there is the opportunity to edit. With this though, its important to look at your home, your life in pieces - if you look at the whole, guess what? it will be overwhelming and nothing will get done.

  • There are many ways to approach your projects; but, one simple way is to put them on your calendar. Some editing will take 10 mins (a junk or utensil drawer) - other might take 3 hours or a couple of Saturday afternoons. Setting the time honestly makes it happen!

  • Typically, an area/project will get on top of your “to do” list by just you deciding its time to organize your closet, so your morning goes smoothly or when a drawer will just not close anymore.

  • Another thought - is to think about an area in your home or apartment that is not functioning well for you. You can’t find the right pan/dish or know if you even have a spatula or you just want to create a small area to write in your journals or read a book. Sit or stand near the area, close your eyes and imagine. Now, its time to make a small plan, schedule the time and do it!

  • The key is just to start - maybe today you just set a bag in your closet and each day you add an item or two that you are ready to donate. If its been on the floor or in the back of the closet door and you forgot you even had this shirt - its ok to let it go. Once the bag is full move it to your door, to your car and donate it or ask a friend if they need the item. The same goes for kitchen items, household decor etc.

  • As you process - daily, weekly, monthly, year-to-year . .. that edit button gets easier and easier to push into action.

  • I know this to be true. Its not always easy, but I promise it will bring light into your space. So, go push that button!
